- 450 g (1 lb) Lafleur Smoked Sausages, cut into pieces 2.5 cm (1") thick
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 45 mL (3 tbsp.) oil
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 5 mL (1 tsp.) cayenne pepper
- 125 mL (1/2 cup) flour
- 5 mL (1 tsp.) baking powder
- 1 egg
- 30 mL (2 tbsp.) milk
- Salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying
- 125 mL sour cream
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
- Mix lemon juice, oil, garlic, salt, pepper and half of cayenne pepper. Marinate sausage pieces in this mixture for 30 minutes.
- In the meantime, mix flour, baking powder, other half of cayenne pepper and a few dashes of salt and pepper. Set aside. Beat egg with milk and set aside.
- Drain sausage pieces.
- Coat sausage pieces with the flour mixture, dip in beaten egg mixture and coat with flour mixture again.
- Fry sausage pieces in hot oil until golden brown. Serve immediately with sour cream dip (below) or your choice of mustard.
- Mix all ingredients.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
