- 15 mL (1 tbsp.) oil
- 15 mL (1 tbsp.) butter
- 1 large red pepper, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 80 mL (1/3 cup) white wine
- 30 mL (2 tbsp.) sugar
- Salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
- 12 to 16 crackers or toasted slices of French bread
- 125 mL (1/2 cup) cream cheese, softened
- 4 Lafleur All-beef Smoked Sausages, thinly sliced
- Fresh chopped basil, to taste, as garnish
- In a frying pan, heat oil, then melt butter. Sauté the red pepper, garlic and onion for 2 minutes.
- Deglaze frying pan with white wine and reduce liquid until almost completely evaporated. Add sugar, salt and pepper while liquid is being reduced.
- Spread cream cheese on crackers or slices of French bread. Place slices of heated sausages on cream cheese. Top with red pepper relish and garnish with fresh basil.
