Ingredients
Flavoured Mayonnaise
- 65 g (¼ cup) mayonnaise (see note 1)
- 30 g (2 tbsp) sun-dried tomatoes
- 15 g (1 c. table) fresh chives
- 5 g (1 tsp) Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic
- Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Ham Burgers
- 4 crusty Italian buns
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 600 g Authentic Cooked Ham (see note 2)
Dressing for Fresh Cress Salad
- 75 ml (⅓ cup) olive oil
- 5 ml (1 tsp) sesame seed oil
- 40 ml (2 tbsp) balsamic vinegar
- 5 ml (1 tsp) soya sauce
- 5 ml (1 tsp) maple syrup
- 20 ml (1 tbsp) orange juice
- 160 g (2 cups) fresh cress, well packed
- Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Notes:
You may replace the mayonnaise with plain yogurt.
Ask the clerk at the deli counter for 4 slices of Authentic Cooked Ham about 0.5 cm (¼" thick), or approximately 100 g each.
Preparation
Flavoured Mayonnaise
- Finely chop the sun-dried tomatoes, chives and garlic.
- Combine tomatoes, chives, garlic, mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a bowl and mix well. Season to taste. Set aside.
Ham Burger
- Wash and dry lettuce. Set aside.
- Grill ham and buns on barbecue.
Fresh Cress Salad
- Wash and dry cress. Tear into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients for the dressing. Drizzle the dressing over the cress.
- Place a small amount of salad in each plate.
How to Serve
- Spread mayonnaise mixture on each bun.
- Place a slice of ham on the lettuce.
- To add a little kick to your burger, add onions or sprinkle havarti cheese on the ham and broil it in the oven.
