Spicy Smoked Sausage Bites

List of ingredients
  • 450 g (1 lb) of Lafleur Smoked Sausages, sliced into 2.5 cm rounds
  • 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of canola oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of ground cayenne pepper
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of flour
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 60 ml (4 tablespoons) of milk
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
Preparation
  1. Marinate sausage pieces in oil, garlic, half the cayenne pepper, salt and pepper for 30 minutes.
  2. Mix flour in a bowl with baking powder and rest of cayenne pepper; add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Beat eggs with milk in a bowl and set aside.
  4. Lightly drain sausages.
  5. Dip sausages in seasoned flour, then in beaten egg and back into the flour.
  6. Fry in hot oil until sausage bites turn golden brown.
  7. Serve immediately with sour cream dip or your favourite mustard.
Tips from the chef
  • If you prefer a milder flavour, use Lafleur light sausages instead.
