4 pita breads
6 Lafleur Beef Sausages
250 mL (1 cup) of store-bought pizza sauce
150 g (3/4 cup) of broccoli florets
150 g (3/4 cup) of peppers (mix of colours), diced
6 white mushrooms, sliced
200 g (1 cup) of mozzarella cheese, grated
80 g (1/4 cup) of black olives, sliced
Fresh basil, chopped
Extra-virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Preparation
Preheat oven to 425 °F (220 °C).
Cook sausages in a pan, let cool and cut into small slices.
Mix broccoli, peppers, mushrooms and olives in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
Place pita breads on an ovenproof baking sheet and brush with pizza sauce.
Add vegetable toppings, ending with cheese.
Cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
Cut into slices and garnish with fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
Tips from the chef
Replace mozzarella cheese with cheddar or brie.
