Maple ham, spinach and cheese quiche

Maple ham, spinach and cheese quiche
 
 
 
List of ingredients
  • 1 9-in (23-cm) pie crust, prebaked
  • 1/2 lb (225 g) of Lafleur Smoked Ham
  • 15 mL (1 tablespoon) of olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 30 mL (2 tablespoons) of maple syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 mL (1 cup) of 10% cream
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 125 g (½ cup) of mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 125 g (½ cup) of Emmental cheese, grated
  • 250 mL (1 cup) of frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained, or fresh spinach, blanched and drained
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté onion in olive oil in a pan until transparent; add maple syrup, bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Let cool and set aside.
  3. Top pie crust with maple ham, onions and spinach.
  4. Whisk eggs with cream in a bowl. Stir in spices and pepper.
  5. Pour egg mixture into pie crust and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes.
Tips from the chef
  • If you don’t have any spinach, use asparagus or broccoli instead.
