List of ingredients
1 9-in (23-cm) pie crust, prebaked
1/2 lb (225 g) of Lafleur Smoked Ham
15 mL (1 tablespoon) of olive oil
1 onion, chopped
30 mL (2 tablespoons) of maple syrup
4 eggs
250 mL (1 cup) of 10% cream
1 pinch of nutmeg
1 pinch cayenne pepper
Freshly ground pepper to taste
125 g (½ cup) of mozzarella cheese, grated
125 g (½ cup) of Emmental cheese, grated
250 mL (1 cup) of frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained, or fresh spinach, blanched and drained
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Sauté onion in olive oil in a pan until transparent; add maple syrup, bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Let cool and set aside.
Top pie crust with maple ham, onions and spinach.
Whisk eggs with cream in a bowl. Stir in spices and pepper.
Pour egg mixture into pie crust and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Bake for about 20 minutes.
Tips from the chef
If you don’t have any spinach, use asparagus or broccoli instead.
